Usui Reiki

Just for today, I will not anger
I will not worry
I will be humble
I will be honest in my work
I will compassionate to myself and others

In Japanese “Rei” means Universal and “Ki means Life Force Energy. If we think about the concept of Reiki scientifically, when using Reiki we are bringing a faster moving energy through a slower moving energy and essentially raising the frequency of the sluggish or dense energy thus increasing its vibratory rate. In very simple terms our bodies are sort of like plumbing pipes. Over time the plumbing may develop a build-up of sediment thus narrowing the flow of the water. Reiki in essence breaks up the residue and sediment of stagnant, trapped or stale energies in our physical bodies and gently helps the body to release them thus opening energy flow more fully and allowing the body to begin to heal itself of dis-ease and disharmony. Reiki has been designed to be used as a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonizing all aspects of one’s life – mind, body, emotions and our spirit (our higher selves).

In the late 19th Century, a Japanese man by the name of Dr. Mikao Usui embarked on a 14 year journey to discover ancient methods of healing. While studying Buddhism he learned Chinese and Sanskrit to be able to interpret scriptures in their native languages. He came across ancient sacred text (sutra) found to be able to open a doorway to channeling healing for the physical, mental and emotional bodies. In deep meditation he received profound messages showing him symbols with very clear instructions of how they might be used to promote health and healing. The rest of his life was dedicated to this work and teaching others about this amazing process.

Reiki can be used as:

  • A stress release and an aide to maintaining good health
  • Working with our unconscious processes
  • Reuniting with our inner creative expression
  • Letting go of past hurts and learning to be gentle with our own tender hearts
  • And many more wonderful and practical applications
